Colette Carson Royston has enjoyed a long career in cancer care. As an Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist/cancer consultant her focus has been on research and education, demonstrated in numerous publications in the field of oncology and service on many healthcare-related boards. She has served as President of the National Oncology Nursing Foundation (grant administration) and serves on the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center Foundation Board. She is actively involved with the San Diego Foundation as a past Chair and serves on the Arts and Culture Working Group and the San Diego Women’s Foundation. She has served on the boards of the San Diego Opera and the Museum of Contemporary Art and is currently Chair of the Commission for Arts and Culture. She has a master’s degree from UCLA as an American Cancer Society Scholar.

Ms. Claire Anderson volunteers full time in San Diego's cultural community. She is on the Commission's Executive Committee, Advocacy Committee, Funding Committee and has served on various panels. She is on the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce's Arts, Business &
Culture (ABC) Committee. She serves as liaison between the Commission, the Commission’s Advocacy Committee and the Chamber’s ABC Committee. She is on the Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC) Committee for the Restoration of the Historic Balboa Theatre. Her professional resume includes medical practice administration, construction design and project coordination, and she is a real estate broker. She is also involved with numerous non-profit organizations for the benefit of the community and the arts, and is a graduate of LEAD San Diego.
Garet Clark

Garet Clark, a native of San Diego, was a banker specializing in trust, investment, and private banking services from 1962 until 2004, when he retired as Region President of Northern Trust. He is a past president of the La Jolla Rotary Club and is currently a member of the Downtown San Diego Rotary Club. For eight months in 2002, Mr. Clark served as the Interim Managing Director of The Old Globe Theatre.
Courtney Ann Coyle

Ms. Courtney Ann Coyle practices environmental litigation and natural and cultural resource consulting at her private law firm, with a focus on protecting parkland and Native American sacred places. She was named Environmental Attorney of the Year in 2003 by California Lawyer Magazine. She is currently a Board member of the Trust for Public Land, San Diego Women's Foundation, Save Our Heritage Organization and Patrons of the Prado. Ms. Coyle is also past President of the La Jolla Town Council and past Vice President of the Torrey Pines Association. She has a BA in Biology from Washington & Lee University and a JD from the University of San Diego and is a LEAD San Diego graduate.
Robert H. Gleason

Robert H. Gleason is the Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel for Evans Hotels, a San Diego-based hospitality company whose properties include The Lodge at Torrey Pines, the Bahia Resort Hotel, and the Catamaran Resort & Spa. In addition, he is adjunct faculty member of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at San Diego State University. He has been an active volunteer at The Old Globe, having served six years on the board (three as Vice Chair for Development) and currently serving on its Facilities Committee. Other current professional and community affiliations include the U.S. Bank San Diego County Advisory Board, the board of the San Diego Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center (where he served as Chair), and the national board of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund. He formerly held appointed positions on the boards of the San Diego Convention Center Corporation and the City of San Diego Funds Commission. He has a degree in economics from Princeton University and a law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law.
Joanne Hayakawa

Joanne Hayakawa has been a Professor of Art at San Diego State University since 1982. Ms. Hayakawa’s artistic talents and more than 33 years experience within the arts arena has allowed her to teach, lecture, and exhibit at galleries, universities, museums, art centers, and diverse art venues throughout the country and internationally. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the William D. Cannon Art Gallery in Carlsbad, California, Quint Contemporary Art in La Jolla, California, Wita Gardner Gallery in San Diego, and various universities including the University of Southern California, the University of California San Diego, the University of Tennessee and the University of Delaware. Her work has also been featured in books and numerous local and national catalogs, articles, and periodicals. As a professor of art, Ms. Hayakawa has been able to share her knowledge and inspire others’ artistic talents. She has also been very active in serving the arts community by participating as a panelist and serving on various arts and culture related committees. In 1999, Ms. Hayakawa was commissioned by the City’s Commission for Arts & Culture for the Vital Parts public art installation in Mission Valley. She later became an artist selection panelist and served on the Commission for Arts & Culture’s Public Art Master Plan Steering Committee. She has also lectured on her own work and public art in San Diego and the United States at the State Institute of Ceramics in Faenza, Italy. Ms. Hayakawa’s innate artistic ability and insightful understanding of art mediums will be a valuable asset to the Commission for Arts & Culture. Ms. Hayakawa received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Washington.
Dea Hurston

Dea Hurston is owner of Functions with Flair and a former San Diego City Schools teacher. She has served on the boards of San Diego Black Ensemble Theatre, Eveoke Dance Theatre, Sledgehammer Theatre, Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary and Friends of Vista Hill. She also sits on the advisory boards for the San Diego Repertory Theatre, Common Ground Theatre, Mo’olelo Theatre and Mainly Mozart. She has worked tirelessly Chairing many fundraisers to help support these organizations and many others. Bennett Peji is a specialist in district branding and design. He serves as an AIGA national board member, a Public Art Committee member for National City and is incoming president of the Asian Business Association. He is one of the co-founders of the AIGA Center for Cross-cultural Design and is San Diego's first AIGA Fellow honoree. His firm, Bennett Peji Design, focuses on helping revitalize organizations, cities and cultures through district branding. He is designing the district branding projects for the City of Carlsbad, downtown Rancho Bernardo, downtown National City and the Asian Pacific Historic District in downtown San Diego. Besides business and community service awards, his firm has received over 200 design awards. Peji is a co-founder and regent of the Baja California Missions Foundation, founded to renovate and preserve the historic missions in Mexico.

Victoria Reed has a Ph.D. in Art History, UCLA, 1998 and M.A. Art History, Arizona State University, 1987. She has been an art critic/writer for over twenty years publishing in Artweek, San Diego Tribune, San Diego edition of the Los Angeles Times, Scottsdale Daily Progress and other publications. She served on the Commission for Arts and Culture's Public Art Committee for over four years, on its Organizational Support Program review panel for three years and on various Commission artist selection panels.
Sharletta Richardson

Sharletta Richardson has more than 36 years experience in the fields of music, education,and artistic performance. Her exemplary career in teaching music began in Cincinnati,Ohio in 1972. Ms. Richardson has taught courses at Gompers School at the secondary, middle, and high school levels from 1978 - 2007. She currently teaches choir and piano at the Center for the Arts at Lincoln High School. In addition to being an outstanding teacher, Ms. Richardson is an acclaimed master class flute soloist and has performed in and directed numerous instrumental and choir performances. Ms. Richardson received the U.S. President's Volunteers of America Award, Japan Fulbright Memorial Teachers Award, Job Corp Performing Arts Volunteer Award, San Diego Urban League Educator's Award, UCSD Educator's Award, and San Diego City Schools' Instrumental Teacher, and Secondary Teacher of the Year Awards. Due to Ms. Richardson's many contributions to the San Diego community, KPBS & Union Bank of California honored her with the 2008 Black History Month Local Hero Award in Education. Ms. Richardson has also been very active with various professional and industry associations including the American Choral Directors Association, California Teachers Association, National Education Association, San Diego Teachers Association, and Southern California Band & Orchestra Association. Ms. Richardson received a Master of Music degree in Music Education from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Science degree in Public School Music from Virginia State University.

Randy Robbins is a principal architect at Austin Veum Robbins Partners, a San Diego based architectural firm. Robbins has over thirty years experience in architecture and interior design and has won numerous design awards. Robbins is current Treasurer and past President of the board of Installation Gallery, the sponsor of inSITE, a bi-national program dedicated to commissioning new work by artists from the Americas in public places for the San Diego/Tijuana region. Robbins has also served as a director on the San Diego Architectural Foundation board and is currently serving as a director on the ACE Mentor Program board. Robbins was appointed to the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture in 2002 and currently serves as the Chair of the Commission’s Public Art Committee. As Director of Historic Tours of America’s San Diego Divisions, Stewart is responsible for the financial administration, quality, marketing and development of the company, which provides heritage tours of San Diego and Coronado since 1989. Presently, he oversees the operations of the Old Town Trolley Tours and SEAL Tours of San Diego, the Balboa Park Tram, and the Old Town Market leasing operations. From 1981 to 1988, he filled a variety of roles including actor, director and producer in organizations including the Royal Shakespeare Company in the UK, Manchester Royal Exchange Theater Company, and United Artists/MGM Films. He was Chairman of the 2006-07 Board of Directors of the San Diego Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (CONVIS). He served as Chairman of Fleet Week 2002 and President in 2005. Lorin served as 2004 Chairman of the San Diego Asian Film Festival and was a member of the Super Bowl Host Committee. He is a Holiday Bowl “Red Coat” and a member of Rotary Club 33. In addition, Lorin sits on the Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum Ex-Officio Board and is past Chairman of the Old Town San Diego Community Planning Committee.
